On January 26, 2024, the 11-day 2024 International Training Workshop on Space Science and Utilization, organized by the Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as “CSU”), was successfully concluded. Representatives of the training course lecturers, 20 experts and scholars from countries along the "Belt and Road" and members of the organizing committee of the training course attended the closing ceremony. At the closing ceremony, CSU presented certificates of completion to 20 members of the training course.

 

This training course includes theoretical learning, field visits and training, practical case studies and group discussions. Well-known scholars and experts from UNOOSA, ESA, University of Geneva, Switzerland, China Satellite Navigation System Administration Office, Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences etc., were invited to give lectures.

 

At the closing ceremony, the students exchanged their gains from the training course. Jose Eduardo MENDOZA TORRES from INAOE, Mexico said, "The course design is unique in terms of both breadth and depth, as well as the perfect combination of theory and practice, which enables participants to understand and solve spatial utilization issues from multiple perspectives. At the same time, this training course is also a catalyst for our future cooperation, and I believe that the follow-up will continue to produce a chain reaction. It is also hoped that the skills and knowledge gained by all our participants can be shared and implemented in the regions that lead the way, thereby extending the impact of the programme."

 

Abdulrahman Mohammed A ALBADRI, from King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, said, "After this intensive training, especially the high-quality lectures brought by a number of renowned scientists and visits to multiple locations, I have a broader understanding of the whole space utilization system. The various subsystems of the space station were also fully understood. From now on, I will begin to look at space science and utilization with new eyes. I would also like to thank the organizing committee for providing us with convenience and making our study and life in Beijing comfortable. Thank you for everything."

 

This training helped foreign partners better understand the great achievements of China Manned Space Program and the development trend of space science and utilization, learn professional knowledge in space science and utilization, publicize the utilization resources of China Space Station and carry out the relevant procedures of cooperative projects. It will greatly promote the ability of countries and regions along the "Belt and Road" in the field of manned space science and utilization.
